Gospel Hootenanny

In the spring of 1970, a friend
of mine had just returned from the Philippines where he had watched over
fifty thousand people come to the Lord in open-air meetings. I asked
him how he got the people interested in attending the meetings. He
told me that he just went to public parks, open markets or wherever people
gathered and began to sing and people would come and he would present the
Gospel to them.
Later that night, the Lord spoke
to me and challenged me to take the church outside its four walls and take
the message to the people. At the time, we didn't have many skilled
musicians in the church. I was playing guitar for the song services
and the organist was just learning to play. Regardless, the moment
we stepped out in an active and positive way, God proved that it was His
plan to go out where there were those who had not been reached and were
waiting to hear the Gospel.
Together in this album we've
compiled songs sung by the various groups that sing at the Gospel
Hootenannys. It is out privilege to bring to you this album. -
